Airdrop and message stopped to work after install of iOS 17 on IPhone 12 Pro to send photos to other devices.

Already checked ALL the usual items suggested in the community communications:

. Reseted communication network

. Re-started devices several times

. IOS 17.2

. Checked: Bluetooth, wi-fi, airdrop to all , enabled , disabled , enabled again

. Devices are in proper proximity

Other devices can send photos to IPHONE 12, but airdrop in IPhone 12 does not see other devices.

ALSO while in photos , if you select photos to be sent by message , that does not work as well!!!

if u are inside message, instead of Photos, then you can send 20 photos , and that works. But no transfer while in the photos app. And no Air drop.

Apple should fix these issues .

Based on these problems, one should be concerned with next updates.

Very unfortunate …

Please check your Screen Time restrictions on your iPhone.

Screen Time

Settings > Screen Time > Content and Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps > AirDrop [Enable]

Watch the GIF below

If you have Contacts Only turned On then please add Apple ID of the sending device to your list of contacts on the receiving device. See the pic at the bottom of this post for better clarity

Before you begin

  • Make sure that the person you're sending to is nearby and within Bluetooth and Wi-Fi range.
  • Check that you and the person you're sending to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. If either of you have Personal Hotspot on, turn it off.
  • Check if the person you're sending to has their AirDrop set to receive from Contacts Only. If they do, and you’re in their Contacts, they need to have your email address or mobile number in your contact card for AirDrop to work.
  • If you're not in their Contacts, have them set their AirDrop receiving setting to Everyone in order to receive the file.

You can put your AirDrop receiving setting to Contacts Only or Receiving Off at any time to control who can see your device and send you content in AirDrop.

Tk u for your interest and effort. Much appreciated.

Unfortunately I had already tried all those steps after going through the Internet advices.

Air drop from inside photos behaves erratically and stops working when attempting to transfer photos for people in my contacts, even if we place both ends on transfer to everyone and not contact only.

If I click on the Airdrop as the option to transfer, it does nothing most of the times, and, when that happens, even the transfer through message does not work. You press the icon and it does not respond . As simple as that. It has to be poor software coding …

Again very disappointing …
