Not connecting to the internet

Hello. I have recently bought a 4G WiFi device for home internet use. It works on my iPhone but in my MacBook Pro it will connect to the WiFi but will not connect to the internet. I ran the diagnostic which said check DNS settings and contact ISP provider. I did that and my ISP provider said I needed to talk to Apple as it was a laptop issue not a connectivity one. Thanks

I had the same issue updating my MacBook Pro to 14.2. I’m not positive if deleting the temp files did anything but the last thing I did before it could be fixed was go to the date/time setting and toggle it off and then back on after the Apple website said it would not connect because of the time information being wrong. When I ran the Disk repair feature the logs also said there was a time issue but I am not a pro so I didn’t get the direct link until later

What exactly is the 4G Wifi device?


Wifi will allow you to connect to your or the available wireless network but it does not connect you to the internet. You need a modem and/or router to do that which is furnished by your ISP. The phone will work because it is gooing through a different protocol. You have to set up the laptop through your ISP.
