Often my emails are correctly put into my inbox but they are marked as SPAM in the subject line. I have tried adding the contact details of these emails to my contacts but that did not work. Most of the online help assumes that the mail is being put into the Spam folder but this is not the case.

My Wife uses an e-mail account from Our ISP Provider
There are certain Server Side filters offered from our ISP.
One of which is as per illustration below
" Deliver to inbox but prefix email subject line with "spam "
Whatever is causing that to occur, it's not the Mac's Mail app. I surmise it is something your email service provider is doing.
Which email account or accounts is this affecting? If you access those accounts, using a web browser, do you still see this?
It does not happen with Gmail so the other responder's suggestion that it was my email provider sounds sensible. And I don't seem to be able to access them via a browser so I will start there with my email provider. Thanks and I will let you know how it goes!
