Unable to update

I get a pop up of “Unable to update” when I tap software updates on my iPad Pro 12.9 5th GEN. It says an error occurred while checking for software update. I’m trying to update to iOS 17.2

Hey there! A number of issues could be the cause of this problem, so let's try some troubleshooting steps to resolve the error :

  • First, make sure that your iPad is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network; a poor or unstable connection can cause update issues.

  • Next, try restarting your iPad by turning it off, waiting for a few seconds, and then turning it back on.

  • Check if your iPad has sufficient storage space for the update, and consider deleting unnecessary apps or files if needed.

  • If the problem persists, reset network settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

If these steps don't work, you can try updating your iPad using a computer :

  • Connect your iPad to your computer, open iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina and later), select your device, and click on "Check for Update."

  • If the issue persists, you can also try updating in recovery mode by force restarting your iPad and selecting the "Update" option in iTunes or Finder when prompted.

If all else fails, consider contacting Apple Support for further assistance. Hope that helps!
