Regardless, folks will still use them for this purpose. I believe the issue is that they do not fully understand the limitations/restrictions for using Apple AirTags for tracking. Most, seeing the many collar options that physically accommodate AirTags, proceed to believe this is a good use for them ... only to post here complaining that they don't work as they expected them to.
