I accidentally deleted my start up disk and not my MacBook won't load.

I accidentally deleted the start up disk to my MacBook pro and now it. won't start up at all. I can load it to the Mac Recovery Mode and from here I'm trying to reinstall OS X ... but am unable to as I don't have the start up disk to save it to. Does anyone know how I can reinstall/ download a start up disk?

Depending on which version of macOS is being offered on the Recovery screen, you may need to reformat the startup drive.

If Reinstall macOS... doesn't say High Sierra or Mojave or Catalina, then you'll need to to reformat the drive using Disk Utility. That can be found in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

To reinstall Sierra or earlier macOS versions, the drive must be formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and you must use the GUID partition scheme. Give the drive the name "Macintosh HD".

To reinstall High Sierra, Mojave or Catalina, then use the APFS format, also with the GUID partition scheme and the same "Macintosh HD" drive name.
