Do I have to subscribe to individual podcasts or is the subscription to all podcasts

When you subscribe to a podcast you get the current and all subsequent episodes until you unsubscribe. (You may be referring to episodes as podcasts, but a podcast is as it were the 'wrapper' for the episodes. You don't subscribe to any other podcasts when you do this.)
