Just to be sure your Mac cannot be upgraded to a newer version of macOS, could you let us know what model and year you have? The simplest way to find out is About This Mac, available by choosing About This Mac from the Apple menu  in the upper-left corner of your screen.

You may want to consider installing another Web browser - like Firefox, whose current version runs on Catalina.
