iPhone 5S (2013-09) supports 4G UMTS or LTE on frequencies as used in 2010–2013, which cellular providers may still support (their choice). It can’t use the newer frequencies, as supported frequencies are locked in hardware. Ask your cellular provider for details for their support for this model phone.
2G/3G has now been decommissioned in many parts of the world. The cell tower won’t communicate with 2G/3G phones.
2G/3G SIM cards that do not support 4G services may not be useful in 2023.
