Video/reels restarting, or freezing

Over the last week, I have been experiencing random video restarts while watching videos or reels. Sometimes it happens 30 seconds in, sometimes a minute in, and sometimes the video completely freezes. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there a solution available?


I am on Wi-Fi on my home network that I’ve always used so I don’t believe that to be the issue.


It doesn’t matter what app I’m browsing it can be Facebook, Instagram, etc. It constantly does this strangely enough it has not done it on YouTube.


Any feedback would be appreciated as this seems to be a constant issue.


Yes, my phone is updated to the latest software and so are the apps.

I'm using a brand new 15 Pro Max with as much memory as it can come with and Instagram videos are freezing. I deleted and reinstalled Instagram. Same issue. Instagram makes it impossible to contact them. The video plays fine on my MacBook Pro. Ideas?

Here are some common solutions you can attempt:


  1. Follow the Apple article to resolve the issue --> If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen ...
  2. If not resolved; please follow the steps in the following link for support with this issue: If your iOS device restarts or displays the Apple logo or a spinning gear unexpectedly
  3. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Turn off your iPhone, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
    1. Restart the device. That's it.
    2. Still not solved --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
  4. Make sure you have the latest updates installed. Update using iTunes/Finder —> Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (IN)
  5. You still see a black screen after charging, force restarting, following the steps in this article.
    1. You see a black screen, but you can hear alerts, sounds, and vibrations.
    2. The screen remains black, but the device chirps when you unmute it and connect it to power.
    3. Your screen is on, but it doesn't respond when you tap, slide, or try other gestures. 
    4. You can't force your device to restart because a button is broken or stuck.
    5. Your device is stuck on the Apple logo, displays a solid color, or isn't recognized in iTunes.
    6. Contact Apple Support to set up service if you have any of the above issues:

I have been using my MacBook Air 2023 for about 2 months plus. But suddenly until recently my Instagram reels page has been freezing up my laptop. This has been happening for about several weeks now. All troubleshooting methods have been used. Nothing works I’ve reported this to instagram also but they said it’s from my MacBook. This is so weird. I regret buying this laptop.

I have the iPhone 15 Pro Max 1TB and I’m experiencing the same issue. It looks like most of the people being affected here all have the same phone/device. In my case I’ve tried every troubleshooting method available online. I’ve resorted to only using instagram on my other phone (Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra) because using it on my iPhone is simply a hassle. I also experience this same issue with Facebook.
