can a backup made on the timecapsule be retrieved after the timecapsule has been switched off?

I am using an Macbook Pro (2019) running on Mojave 10.14.6 and want to update the Operating Software.

If this is not satisfactory, can I switch back to my 'old settings' backed up on the Timecapsule? The time capsule was updated with settings as per now; but is currently switched of and not attached to internet. Literally off.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

You can re-connect the Time capsule device, and it can still be accessed. You would likely use the Option key to get the choice of 'Browse other backups' option in Time machine settings.

You may wish to connect the Time capsule with an Ethernet cable, directly to your Router. You can turn its wi-fi off it it interferes, or you can continue to use it as a wi-fi extender later.
