i have an ipad with JAmf that was locked as it was lost but we have it now and i cant get it to unlock off of lost mode
the screen says lost ipad when you press the home screen nothing happens it is in the lost mode

I will assume you issued the lost mode from your MDM. Go back to your MDM and disable Lost Mode.
Ah, this will require the device to have network connectivity. If the device does not have wireless access in your current location, you should be able to use an Ethernet adaptor to allow the unit to gain network access. This will allow it to receive the disable lost mode command.
