8 digits but I need 6 on authentic

hello, I have a new phone, the old one was broken. so the authenticator app is still on the old but can't get in the phone anymore, now I have on my new phone the authenticator again but it gives 8 digits, you can I change this to 6 digits?

Cannot fix 2-step authenticator on iphone Error message says "code entered does not match one sent to phone." A common solution is supposed to be fixed by doing time correction sync. When following instructions, I get no prompts for this to be performed. Would like to delete this authenticator altogether. Deleting app off phone doesn't correct anything and neither does turning authenticator off. Desperately need a fix. I'm locked out of the account on which I was using the 2-step authenticator. Help please.
