What is the current limit of the USB-A Port?

I believe the similar lightning adapter (Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter - Apple) has a ~600mA limit on USB-A port (at least based on what I've seen - ie I've seen devices disconnect if they pull more than this amount I see the device disconnect).

What is the USB-C upstream port used for on the Studio Display / Studio Computer ? What is the USB-C upstream port used for on the Studio Display ? I know that it can be used for faster charging, but is there anything that should not be plugged into it, say, a studio computer? See image below for visual of the back of the studio display. Then, one of the three downstream ports would be used to connect a studio computer? Does the studio ultra have an upstream and a downstream too? What is the proper set up ? Thank you.

Apple Lightning to USB 3 camera adapter Not able to get the firmware upgrade to download. Have followed the notions of only connecting the dongle, or leaving it overnight. No luck. Any way to force it? Right now the adapter is useless since I need it to connect and power a Snowball mic.
