Help! iMac boots and runs slooooooow slow.

I have a late 2019 iMac and it started slowing down a few weeks ago. Now it creeps. Takes 8-10 minutes to boot. Apps can take minutes to load, documents open slowly, so do web pages.

I've researched it and found lots of similar complaints with no real solutions. Diagnostics turned up no problem.

Anybody have an idea? Is Sonoma too much for it?

Specs:

Late 2019 iMac, Sonoma 14.1.2, 3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5, 8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 RAM, 1TB Fusion drive with 426 GB free.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 14.1

Hey there!

It's possible the Fusion Drive is failing or getting tired. To check, you can use DriveDx. Once you've dowloaded the app, you can open it, and it will report the health of your Fusion Drive.

You can also take a screenshot of DriveDx's results and upload it here. To upload a screenshot in a reply, you can use the Image insertion tool.
