Wish List vanished when iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows consolidated into AppleTV app

It's really disappointing that Apple once again has eliminated a feature on which millions of customers depend. I had dozens of movies in my iTunes Movies wish list, and multiple TV shows in my iTunes TV Shows wish list. All of these were future purchases, but I can't remember what they all were. This would be like Amazon deleting my Wish List of products; it makes no sense. None of them show in 'Up Next'. Why couldn't that have been a solution?

Apple has a pattern of nixing features people like and use, or even removing entire applications on which millions of people depend, at their detriment and the company's detriment. Very disappointing.

It’s still there for me; just in a different place.

On the Apple TV Home Screen select the Movies ITunes Icon. On the next screen, located at the top you will find a tab for your Wishlist

I hope this helps

Yes I know. I still have the iTunes app with a working wish list on my iPad Air 2. I can add Titles and make purchases on that. The only method now that will sync, no matter which device you use to add or remove on is the Add to Up Next function. it’s not really ideal since it’s full of everything else we saved in other Apps or are part way through watching.

The Apple TV App has been getting a redesign since its inception. You can try the feedback form I posted to let the Apple engineers know directly but if I’m being honest I don’t think they plan on going backwards on this. They seem to be pushing us to use the Apple TV App.

I hadn’t noticed it was ever in the Apple TV App on iOS, it was in the iTunes app in Movies but that has now gone with the latest software update. It has been restored to the Apple TV box but this is only temporary and only shows what users had already saved on the Apple TV box, you cannot add to it.

There’s still a Store tab in the Apple TV App on iPhone you can shop from. The only way to save what you like for future use is to use the + to Add to Up Next. Up Next can be found in the Apple TV plus tab and will sync across devices if you are watching on another device besides your iPhone.

If you saved content on you Apple TV Box it can still be found in the Movies or TV Show Apps here:

Yes, & let me tell you! I own well over 1600 movies via AppleTV, was a regular shopper, & I don't buy or even browse for movies anymore. Do they think they're going to increase sales by cramming TV into the movie menu? Do they think I'll buy or rent movies if they're just forced into my up next list (not to mention just completely lost there now)? It won't happen & hasn't happened since this horrifically bad downdate. I NEED a wish list to keep track of movies, contextually, to come back & buy or rent under various circumstances, not a bunch of movies lost in the ether; & that's exactly where they've all gone, never to be seen or considered for purchase ever again. Not to mention, having unpurchased wishlist movies in the up next list ruins the functionality of the of the up next list, too. I might put a movie or two in the up next list if I was intending to rent/purchase imminently - IF I had the option - but not in lieu of a wishlist. I don't need to worry about finances or kids buying movies etc when I'm using the up next list.

It's a mess, & the movies menu is SO UGLY now, with the "go to store" or "go to your purchases" buttons on that grey computer-looking screen. Yeah, I see my old wishlist there, taunting me with the old add-or-remove-from-wishlist buttons that aren't on any of the movies outside of the wishlist anymore. And that weird little drop-down grey-printed text menu thing in the corner instead of tabs... yuck. Don't mind that as an additional option but not the base format. Also don't use Apple+ as much now that it's buried & all mixed in & mixed up, either.

I don't even want to have to say it, but they really forced my hand with this one: I am seriously regretting buying movies from Apple instead of Amazon now. I trusted Apple movies to be more available & not look like a clearance rack when I'm shopping. I trusted Apple not to try & manipulate me. It's not just disappointing, it feels infuriating & insulting, like I'm being taken advantage of. Never been so upset by such a poor reformat before. It's made me question my entire relationship to Apple & AppleTV this time, & I'm pretty sure that wasn't what they intended. Almost ready to bail on AppleTV all together for a while. Obviously would like to see this "update" rolled back but reinstatement of the wishlist at very least. So upset with this one.

That was an old gripe we had. The wishlist seemed to have been stored locally on each of our appletv boxes. And never synced with my phone’s list or the other Apple tv’s wish list. Not that hard to fix. But never seemed to be an issue for Apple to fix.

But for now. It sounds like our wish list are gone unless we used one Apple TV only for all our movies to purchase.

Apple really dropped the ball on this.

The problem for us with that. Is that the wish list aren’t synced to our devices. 99% of the time I shopped for movies on my phone. We never used the wishlist on the tv because it didn’t sync. Even when you buy a movie on your phone. It still stays in your wish list on your Apple TV. And when you have multiple Apple TVs, it’s the same deal. None of them are synced.

(And yes. I am logged into the same Apple ID)

So when they forced the 17.2 update. We lost our wishlist. It’s no where to be found on the phones version. If it is there Apple placed it so intuitively no one would even think to find it. 🤦‍♂️

“Up Next” is an absolute mess when you have 3-4 people and 3-4 Apple TVs. And they wanted us to use it for a “wish list”? Every show we even think about watching ends up on there. In the order we attempted to watch it. It’s like when you mark all emails as important. Then none of them become important.

The store needs its own interface for the user to shop with.
