I have two imacs. Both are connected to iCloud. I want to completely clear #1 imac. How do I remove it from iCloud without deleting any files from #2 imac iCloud ? Thanks in advance.

The two Macs are signed in with same Apple ID and password on the same network , the files will sync when iCloud Drive and desktops and documents box is turned on Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive - Apple Support
To remove Mac 1 from iCloud sign out Apple ID from it Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac - Apple Support
The Mac 2 won't be signed out , the files will still remain in it .
You can view the list of devices it could be another iPhone / iPad View and remove your devices that are associated with Apple ID purchases - Apple Support

Hello.
To remove any device from your iCloud, go to: (on your iPhone or iPad)
Settings > Your Name > Scroll Down > iMac #1 > Remove from Account

I’m assuming the different iMacs are different devices, so yes.
For the Mac, no. You do not. However, erase it before you remove it from your account. Files that are backed up to iCloud will remain.
