why does my brand new m3 max macbook pro makes a weird writting noise on the ssd like its a regular harddrive?

Hi all,

Why does my brand new m3 max macbook pro makes a weird writting noise on the ssd like its a regular harddrive?

Apparently called "coil whine" amongst users having the same issue, it seems to be an electrical problem that has been going on for some years now. Why hasn't apple fixed this? On such an expensive machine I find it unacceptable. Even my 2017 MacBook Pro ssd was completely silent.

And no it’s not the fan noise.

Not a software issue. It is definitely hardware.

Support seems to be unaware of this or so they say.

Pretty frustrating as once you notice it… well you know how it goes.

I find it weird that in all the reviews I’ve watched before buying it no one mentioned it.

Thanks for any help or solution one could provide 🙏

This isn’t the answer I was expecting at all. Sounds like a generic bot response that doesn’t want to take the problem seriously nor bring any type of solution.
+ my 14 days ends today as I bought it December 6th. I’m in France though so it might be different.

Sorry I can not account for what you expect or don't expect...

What I can say—

hard to impossible to diagnosis "weird writting noise" in an on-line forum.

This would be considered hardware, not software— take it in if you think you have an issue with your hardware.

This is a user-to-user forum. Except for moderating the forum, Apple largely is not here.

You're describing something that sounds like a hardware issue – one that most people don't encounter. What do you expect fellow customers to suggest, other than contacting Apple, returning the machine, or taking it in to get warranty repair?

Thank you for your reply.

I did spend an hour on it hone with a tech from support that just wasn’t aware of this occurrence and couldn’t come up with a solution.

I am aware this is a user-user forum and I might have expressed myself wrong but I was just hoping that someone here might have encountered the same issue and if they’d found a fix for it.

My brand new M3 MacBook Pro also has the same issue.

After 14 days of free return period, I just realized that my M3 MacBook generates a sound like something that I heard from HDD.

This sound is generated especially right after I watch some video from the Youtube. After watching a video and turn off/pause the video, the sound disappears in 2-3 seconds.

I have M1 MacBook Pro, and it never create this sounds.
