fcpx viewer screen/area blank [no video playback or preview at all] How to see video playback in that ara again

Hello

I have updated to sonoma in the last week, and now today to the latest version of that [14.2.1]

I have not used this intel machine in a while [16inch macbook pro, i7 processor 2019] so when I opened up this machine again last week, I ran through all the updates, I opened fcpx and updated that, I imported the videos to edit and noticed that the video viewer for importing and the main viewer within FCPx is blank when media 'should' be showing there while editing

While playing the clips, I can hear the audio as one expects, it is just the visual aspect is blank/black, the crop/adjustment tools seem to be working, but one is working 'blind' as nothing is showing and so fcpx is not practical to use

I have searched and searched online for solutions, I have uninstalled fcpx and installed it again, restarting the machine before and after the deleting of the old install and installing again

I have deleted all libraires and so using the machine 'fresh'

I have used the opt+command 'reset' solution, to no avail

I have played around with numerous other settings that might have anything to do with anything with this again to no avail ... however ... open to trying any suggestions

Many thanks

I see that Etrecheck itself crashed at some point. This is very unusual.

This is the most egregious problem from the otherwise rather clean report: you have "Memory Clean" installed.

This is a very bad idea. It goes against how the OS manages memory, and may well be the cause of multiple crashes. Completely uninstall this.

Delete Final Cut Pro preferences.

See if there is some progress.

Hi Tom

At first when I encountered this problem, nothing would appear in the viewer area, however after clearing the library files [highlight library] file > delete generated library files [delete render files, opimized media and proxy media] it seems that now if I were to select a 'project' it will now show in the viewing area [see screenshot]

although to your question directly, anything for example a generator or a media file or the storyline itself when highlighted nothing appears in the viewer area [see screenshots]

Generator

Media

Storyline

Thank you for taking the time to look at this

Yes, I thought that odd that it crashed when it did

The memory clean app has been removed, fcp preferences have been deleted and machine has been rebooted ..thus far has not helped with the fcp viewer but I trust your suggestion with the memory clean apps will help prevent any further app crashes, and, help the machine use the memory without going against itself so to speak...Thank you for that
