My iMac has an apple chip and is running MacOS 13.0. The Calendar crashes regularly, so I imagine that I need to update the Apple Calendar application. But I can find no place to get the update for that app. The Apple Calendar App is not in the App store, or anywhere else.

Calendar is one of the Apple apps updated only with the operating system. Your 2021 iMac has Mac OS 13 Ventura and is capable of supporting the next Mac OS - Sonoma.
Perhaps if you upgraded it to Sonoma this might resolve your problem?
