Printing does not print at 100% scale
When I print from macOS 14.2 at 100% it is printed at about 98% scale. I've tried printing from Preview, Autodesk Fusion 360 and Inkscape, and all print at about 98% scale, even when setting "Scale: 100%" in the print dialog. I'm using a HP LaserJet Pro 276nw. When I print the same drawings using Fusion 360 and Inkscape and Sumatra PDF in Windows 10 everything is scaled perfectly at 100%. I have not been able to test with other printers.
Here's a topic on this exact same issue (posted 9 years ago): https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/152686/print-pdf-as-is-no-scaling-no-added-margins/
Interestingly, the above post has issues with exactly the same printer. (But to repeat myself, there are no scaling issues in Windows 10 with the printer).
What could be causing it? Is this a bug in macOS? Can this issue be reproduced with other printers? This is very annoying when you need accurately scaled drawings.
Edit: I print on A4 paper and have selected A4 (210 x 297 mm) as Paper Size in the print dialog. I tried selecting a larger paper size to see if this has any effect. I selected 216mm x 330mm (8.5" x 13") and printed on A4. This prints correctly at 100%. So it seems that macOS is shrinking the size.
I'm speculating, but maybe it tries to fit an A4 in the printable area which is smaller than A4. I can try this out by making A4 with rectangle that exactly fits in an A4. If printed correctly, this shouldn't be visible as it is outside the area the printer can print. If the mac tries to compensate for this area, the rectangle will be visible in the print.
