If I lose the security keys (yubikey) on my Apple account and my trusted device, am I still able to use account recovery? Or like with a recovery key, is that now disabled?

I understand that if I enable a recovery key on my account (28 digit) and I lose that key, that Apple cannot recover my account because the normal recovery process is disabled.

Is that true if I lose the security keys (physical yubikeys) and a trusted device? Or can I still use the normal account recovery or a recovery contact in that case?

What if if I'm unable to use the recovery contact?

Basically, this boils down to - if I'm using physical security keys, is the normal account recovery process disabled?

My understanding has always been that only enabling the recovery key would disable the traditional account recovery process.

Enabling hardware security keys (e.g., yubikey) should not disable the traditional recovery process and you should still be able to contact Apple support or use your recovery contact.

I may be wrong here though.
