Blocked text messages disappear

I have a 14 pro max iOS 17.1.2. When I am either blocked or the other person with a 15 pro max same iOS is on do not disturb my texts come up green with no delivered under text then when they take off dnd or unblock me the message disappears for good. Anyone else get this? It will disappear as soon as I go back to messages and I look at all my texts and the one I sent is gone. Also messages just stay in one place don’t move up the board to most recent?

Why do I still receive texts from non-contacts despite the setting to block them on iPhone? I turned on the setting that prohibits text messages from being received by anyone not on my contact list, however, I still get plenty of those messages. The iPhone even puts a little subtext in there that says this person is not on your contact list. My first thought is “no kidding.“ My second thought is “then why do I keep getting these messages?“ or is that button in the settings like the proverbial light switch in an old house that doesn’t seem to operate anything? Do Not Disturb still allows messages on my iPhone 14 Pro Max When Do Not Disturb is on, still receiving text messages. Have verified configuration set to allow No Contacts and No Apps. Have done a full erase all reset and still not working. IOS 17.4.1 [Re-Titled by Moderator]
