HomePod Mini Automations

I'm exploring automations within my Apple HomeKit smart home, and would like to use my new HomePod mini in automations. However when I go to create an automation I get a notification that reads:Software Update Required To use this HomePod in an automation, make sure your HomePod software is up to date.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong, or is the HomePod mini unable to be used in automations?

The mini should work for Automations you add in the Home App. Is your HomePod up to date and do you have another device to use the home app on? Your iPhone says it’s on iOS 10 which is outdated software and can’t even recognize a HomePod mini. Which device did you set up the HomePod on?

I set up the HomePod mini on my iPhone SE 2022 which is running iOS 17.2.1 and during the set up process the HomePod mini updated itself to version 17.2
