External links (instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc) only open in safari and not their respective apps

The link leads me to the safari website, which then leads me to the App Store even though u already own the app.

YES everything is updated, YES all the apps are up to date, YES I reset everything I could’ve reset (cache, history, network settings, hard reset my phone, etc etc etc)

please stop giving us useless advice as if we’re 90something year olds that can’t figure out our phones.

  • Check Restrictions in Screen Time:

Go to Settings > Screen Time. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions. Ensure that Web Content is not set to Limit Adult Websites or Allowed Websites Only.

  • Reinstall the Apps:

Uninstall Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc. Restart your iPhone. Reinstall the apps from the App Store.

  • Check Default Browser Settings:

Go to Settings > [Your Browser App]. Ensure it's set as the default browser if you're not using Safari.

  • Disable “Open Links in Background” in Safari:

Open Settings > Safari. Under the 'General' section, turn off Open Links in Background.

  • Check Universal Link Settings:

Long press a link to one of the problematic apps. Choose Open in "[App Name]" if available. This can sometimes reset the default behavior.
