Blocking anonymous message senders

Almost daily I get anonymous text messages with no associated phone number, which is an obvious phishing scam wanting me to reply or click on a link. I do not reply STOP to avoid indicating they've reached a human. I always "delete and report junk" but it doesn't stop. How can I block an anonymous message sender?

Neither - they're gray (assuming some sort of bot).

All incoming messages are grey so that's normal. What's more concerning is the fact that you see no number at all. I suspect that may even be illegal. I'd suggest contacting your carrier. It's not an immediate stop but it may help in the long run.

You can also try Settings>Messages>Unknown & Spam>Filter Unknown Senders and turn it on. You'll still need to check that folder periodically because it's bound to catch some automated things you actually need.

And, finally, you will never be able to completely stop spam. It's a sad fact of modern life.
