how to open a backed up file
I want open a file that was previously backed up to copy to my iPhone.

You don't really "open" a backup, you transfer all the data in the backup back over to your phone.
In other words, backups are all or nothing.....you cannot pick and choose what you want to restore to the phone.
When the process is complete, your phone will look just like it did on the date of the backup.....and you will lose any data that you have added to the phone between the date of the backup and the current time.
To restore from a backup, you must first erase the phone and then set it up again, choosing the option to restore data from an iCloud backup or backup on a Mac or PC.
Just want to make sure that you are clear on things here, before you dive into unknown waters.
