Movie on Ipad has no sound

I transferred some DVDs to a PC using VLC. They were in MP4 format. I then used iTunes and moved them onto my iPad. I can view the movies on the iPad but no sound. I reviewed previous questions on this community and tried the options suggested to get the sound back and they did not work. I played with the sound volume in Settings on the iPad with no results. I made sure the iPad was not in silent mode and it isn't.

Any suggestions on how to correct the volume issue? Could it be the program I used tp transfer the movies to the PC? Please help.
