When I’m texting someone on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, it randomly switches to another line, mid-conversation

I have text chains with line #1 that are weeks/months long. All of the sudden when pressing “send”, the phone switches to line #2. The person on the other end of the text chain is wondering who the heck they are suddenly talking to…
