Photos Library - Processing the Content of Memories, People & Pets

To generate the contents of Memories, People & Pets section of Photos Library, do I have to keep Photos app running?

Does my photos library gets processed even if it is not running?

Photos will be scanning your Photos Library, when you are not using the app. Launch Photos once, after you sign into your user account. This will kick off the background processes. You can quit Photos, when you are no longer using it. The background processes will continue to run and analyse the library. If your Photos Library is on an external drive, keep it plugged in. And the Mac needs to be connected to power, if you are using a portable Mac. Your Mac mini will be connected to power anyway.
