HOW TO FORCE HTTPS Safari 17 ??

if I type / copy paste only a website domain, for example apple.com in safari's address bar, it goes automatically to http://apple.com which then transfers it to httpS://www.apple.com

why does it not automatically assume https OR leave it without the http in front so the search can work to show the correct https:// link? Safari DIES half the time I paste a domain because it assumes http: NOT httpS. why?

this is so flipping annoying. Safari used to work. now it is not when it auto inserts http NOT httpS.

I don't get it?
