Hotkeys for copying and selecting

I am interested in hotkeys for 2 actions:

- action 1 - I want to copy text in a text editor without putting it on the clipboard. I want to select the text, press a hotkey and move the selected text with the mouse to the desired location for copying. For example, in Finder, the "control" button works for files, when you press it, the files are copied but not moved. How to do this with text, for example, in PhpStorm?

- Action 2 - I want to select a couple hundred files sorted alphabetically in Finder. For example, I need to select files with the first letter "B". Can I select the first file, scroll to the last "B" file, press a hotkey and click on the last file to select all files from the first selected file to the last file at once?

I'm using a MacBook Pro M1 2021.

macOS: Sonoma 14.2.1.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.2

Thank you very much. Action 1 was solved - there was a problem with a hotkey conflict. Now copying works when you press the "Option" button.

Also very grateful for the answer on action 2. I always work in icon mode and it didn't work for me. Now I realized that the problem is the limitations of this view mode. Perhaps it is possible to remove this restriction for icon view mode?
