I have reformat ipad 2nd gen and could not

I have reformatted my old ipad 2(2nd generation) and wanted to pass on to my mum for simple use however the system did not allow me to go through the setup and been asking for XXXXX@icloud.com login which has been changed to using email. Anyone has this issue and how can I resolve this?
