Trying to move itunes library from C Drive to D Drive

I am trying to move my iTunes library to a new drive with more space.

I have updates the preferences to the desired new location and I believe

this will result in new items added being stored in that new location.

The issue is that everything i previously added is still on the C drive.

I have copied all the iTunes folders over to the new location.

including the .itl files. I relaunched iTunes holding shift and selected the new

.itl file location.

When I check the location of my music it still Shows C Drive. How can I get it to read from D Drive?

Windows, Windows 6

There is a bug in recent builds of iTunes (going back to 12.9.3 I think, so not that recent) that, at least for some users, seems to stop the media folder preference from being saved properly. See Make a split library portable - Apple Community and put your library in a shape that isn't affected by the issue, and is easier to backup and move around in future.

There is an issue whereby the Preferences/Advanced/iTunes Media folder location goes back to the C drive every time you open iTunes. Yes, it's incredibly annoying, Apple don't appear to be in any hurry to fix it.

But that only affects new imports from CD and nothing else as far as I know.

You can check to see where iTunes is looking for existing files by selecting a track and clicking iTunes' top bar menu Edit/Song Info/File>location:
