Do you want to have the photos in a Photos library on the external drive or just file files? If the latter try the following:
1 - at the bottom of the window select "Other" as the destination for the import and then navigate to the EHD and select the folder to house hem:
2 - connect your iPhone to your Mac
3 - launch Image Capture,
4 - select the first item in the list
5 - scroll down to the last item in the window and select while holding down the Shirt key. This will select all of the files.
6 - Control (right) - click on the deleted items and select Import X Items" from the contextual menu.
Image Capture is part of the system. It's located in the Applications folder or the Applications/Utilities folder.
Image Capture will download the original photos from your iPhone so they will be as good as you can get, resolution wise.
thank you. I figured out. Do you know by chance, if the pictures will have the best resolution if I download to the external hard drive this way? Where do I check this exactly in my iPhone? I am doing it right now and it takes forever to download 7k photos/videos 😂
Some clarifying questions:
Do you have a macOS computer that you can sync your photos to?
What device is the external drive connected to?
What is exactly Image Capture? do I need to find it and download it to my Mac? is it a sort of app for IMAC? I am lost. I am trying to do the same but can't figure things out.
