i sent my Apple Watch Series 4 in for a battery replacement and when I try to pair it to my iPhone X, it says I need an iphone XS or later, which was not the case prior to me replacing the battery any suggestions?

If the WatchOS was updated to WatchOS 10 then it won’t pair with your iPhone X anymore because your X doesn’t have iOS 17 (which WatchOS 10 requires). If that is the case then there is nothing you can do. You would need a newer phone that can use iOS 17
