Charging port smells of nail polish

The other day, I got a notification from my phone telling me it was overheating and wouldn’t charge until it was cool. I thought nothing of it, but yesterday my charging port started smelling of nail polish when it was charging. I left it overnight (not charging), but this morning it still smells of the nail polish, but only very faintly. I’m using a different charger now that doesn’t make the phone overheat, but I’m worried about my battery. Is this normal?


The phone is an iPhone 13 and it’s just over a year old.

Have you thought about making an appointment at the Genius Bar or taking the phone to an authorized Apple service shop so they can run some tests on the phone and battery?
