Family sharing - Wrong country/region on invite

Trying to set up Family sharing with my adult son. Family sharing is already set up, and working, with my wife. When I send him the invitation he gets an error

He lives less than an hour away in the same state.

Any assistance greatly and gratefully appreciated.

Purchase sharing is on. I have tried an invite to his phone number and in an email to his Apple ID. No joy.

TIA,

I’m having the exact same problem - but with my husband. Both profiles set to US.

Did you find a solution?

I had the exact same problem. Apple support was able to walk me through it.

First - make sure you already send them a request to add family to family share.

the member who has issue with region issues need to:

1:Login to settings

2:Click on the name their name on top

3:select media and purchases - you are going to want to sign out

4:turn phone off then on

then give it a minute or so

log back in to Apple Music - should have access

I hope that works.

The scammiest part of all of this is that when you click on your country of origin (they both are US) it takes you to reenter your billing information which should have absolutely nothing to do with your country of origin. So I’m supposed to believe that overnight I can no longer track where my kid is and Apple needs me to give them financial information that they already have. This is enough for me to want to get an android.

Would not work with his iPhone 13. Worked with his 5th gen iPad.

Added my d-i-l and she has an iPhone 13 and it immediately connected.

Apple has a tech bulletin out about this same problem occurring. Their work around was to sign out of United States, sign in to the UK, then sign back out and then back in to the US. With all the trauma that would cause with having to cancel any already open subscriptions. Glad we found a way.

Thanks for your help and your efforts.

Just wanted to post that I did what one individual stated after trying other multiple attempts - and I did NOT want to delete any subscriptions or change to another country - I simply STOPPED Family Sharing - restarted Family Sharing - sent out invites - and all went as planned - no error messages stating "Country/Region Did Not Match". It worked flawlessly and effortlessly!

Is he replying directly from the iPhone the screen shot was taken from?

If so, is his iPhone logged in to the same Apple ID for Media & Purchases and iCloud?

If all else is correctly set up, then it may be best to contact Apple Support directly and see if they can figure out something from their side.

We were only setting “share your location” with each other, so it didn’t matter which iPhone was the group organizer, as long as it worked. Your cloud storage need does seem like you need to be the organize to share storage under your name. A workaround is to set up a Google drive or OneDrive account and share that instead. I share a Google drive with my family.

I don't know that there was any one "right" answer. I know, in my case, my son just accepted the invite from another device. In his case an old iPad. Some found success in signing out of iCloud, all parties, then back in. Some may still be having the issue. I was just proud that, and selfish, my issued started working. For all I know it may be a time-of-day thing. Sometimes, it seems, things of The Apple-Verse, have a mind of their own.

E.G. something like shared calendars/notes work; sometimes work on one device but not others; sometimes don't sync for days then just start working. Never boring for sure.

Good luck.
