Got a new work Iphone before Christmas and coming back after the holiday and now I forgot the passcode to get in.

If it is a supervised device managed by your employer, the IT department may have the ability to clear or reset the passcode without data loss.

By chance, maybe the IT guys set up the phone and kept a record of the passcode? Check with them first....before you do anything else.
If not, the phone must be reset / erased and set up again.

You can restore any lost data on the phone from your backup.
It's really old fashioned, but it might be a good idea to write down the new passcode and keep it in a safe place.....even if you are sure that you will never forget it.
