Cannot Setup Apple Mail with ISP's Google Account (TELUS)
MacOS: Sonoma 14.2.1
Apple Mail: 16.0
On my MacBook Air M2, I'm able to add a Google account to Apple Mail if the account is actually "@gmail.com". But my ISP is TELUS with the addresses being @telus.net. They use Google for email so when entering my email, the IMAP setting is using @telus.net instead of @gmail.com. The error message is "Connections to her server 'imap.telus.net' on the default ports timed out."
This works on my 2021 iMac M2 and my iPhone 13 Pro Max, but for some reason, not on the MacBook Air.
Everything in Apple Mail is pretty locked down so there isn't an obvious setting to override the default IMAP setting. My ISP's technical support apparently tried it on Sonoma 14.2 and "it just worked".
I'm able to login to the ISP's webmail so it's not a password issue. I'm guessing Apple Mail is getting the IMAP settings from the email address when it should just be "gmail.com" but I'm unsure why it seems to work for others.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
