Memory full and can’t boot imac

In the process of trying to free some space on my start up drive I ran out of memory and Im now unable to start, even in safe or recovery mode. Mac just gets stuck at status bar. I do have Time Machine as well as CCC back ups. Is there a way for me to restore from them without getting in recovery mode? Not sure what else to do?

Also you are referring to storage space as memory, it is not memory. RAM is memory , every time you turn off a computer the RAM is emptied which is unlike storage which remains. If you purchase a computer with small amounts of storage you must learn to manage that storage.

one thing you can do to manage storage is to store large libraries which are typically

  1. photos
  2. music
  3. movies

onto external storage devices, most people use external hard disks.
