iOS 17; How to add custom ringtones?

Current MacBook Pro OS 14 & iPhone iOS 17 with most current updates.

Attached iPhone to MBPro with cable; in Finder Drag & Drop .m4r ringtone file to iPhone no longer works to add a ringtone.

What is now the best way to add custom ringtones to iPhone?

*I really don't want to add GarageBand to iPhone. Now is it the only way?

iPhone 13 mini, iOS 17

Never mind. Disregard.

I repeated the steps from the beginning. This time it all worked out perfectly fine.

Not clear how/what went wrong the first time but, apparently the sound file may have been converted to a .m4r format with irreconcilable errors & so would not be uploaded to the iPhone.

Second try went smoothly. No problems.
