Will this work? I’m in a rural area that has no wifi support - I can stream programs on my phone with internal wifi….so shouldn’t air print work? If not is there a cable I can connect to print with iPhone 7+?

I own the same printer but have a newer iPhone. One thing I discovered is that in order to print from the iPhone to that printer, both have to be on the same WiFi network. If they are on different networks, they cannot communicate with each other.
To answer your second question, I have not heard of a cable that will connect the iPhone to the printer. But you can contact Apple Support and ask them. Select Support at the top or bottom of the page.
