I’ve had the apple homekit working for many year now did a up date and all my Philips stuff was removed and now it says I need a home hub. I did have it set up that my iPad Pro was the home hub but apple have stopped that. And now I can’t use apple HomeKit

Indeed, since the new Home architecture, an iPad can no longer be used as a hub. You'd need to use an Apple TV or a HomePod (mini or not.)
