I bought a new IPAD (10th GEN) last week.
I read that pressing the top button and the side button at the same time will shut off the IPAD. Not so. Doing that sometimes simply calls up SIRI, sometimes it just shows a very small horizontal sliver at the top of the screen. Sometimes it does nothing at all.
I have to go into "SETTINGS" and choose "SHUTDOWN" to get it to turn off.
Is there some trick to it?

Pressing and holding the top button along with either volume button should bring up the slider on the screen to shut off the device.
Just pressing the top button without a side button should bring up Siri.
It seems like the volume button is not making a good connection if Siri comes up instead of bring up the Power off slider on the screen. Are you able to adjust the volume up and down when using the device?
If it is not working in this way, I would make a trip to the Apple Store while you still can to get it replaced if there is a hardware problem.

I did try the volume buttons and they work fine.
Yes, the Power Off slider should appear but does not in about 90% of my Shut Down "attempts" .
Do you think that perhaps I have another setting somewhere that is interfering with this?
