Unable to startup in safe mode

my Macbook has recently been having issues where it seems to be in a loop with the Apple logo showing the loading bar at times. I was told it was updating to the newest version of macOS, I’ve tried everything to get it working again. From internet recovery where I’ll get the spinning globe and then the timer down below for 24:00. The Max has been in that screen for the last three days and I was told to restart it in hopes that the progress bar down below and the timer would change but it didn’t. I then tried to reset the Nvram and the Mac which takes me to the login screen which I’ve successfully logged in but then my Home Screen looks grey/black and the mouse. I thought to put it into safe mode but whenever I go to put it into safe mode I just get the regular start up and the safe mode does not appear. Can able help me? I’ve only had the MacBook for two years.

I have a MacBook Air 2020 model A2179 if that helps at all

Sorry, I gave you the steps to go into Safe Mode on a Silicon-based Mac. Looks like you figured that out.

Based on what you have provided, I would recommend that you make a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to have them take a look and provide you with your options.

If you have neither near you, you can contact Apple Support directly to see about shipping your laptop in for repair service.

At which step in the using Safe Mode process, did it fail?

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Press and hold the power button on your Mac. As you continue to hold the power button, your Mac turns on and loads startup options. When you see Options, release the power button.
  3. Select your startup disk. It's named Macintosh HD, unless you changed its name.
  4. Press and hold the Shift key, then click the “Continue in Safe Mode” button below your startup disk.
  5. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Did you try going to the next step to run the Apple Diagnostics?

Hi Thankyou for the reply, I turned on the MacBook and instantly pressed and held the shift key button which took me to the login screen after that I got the progress bar under my admin photo from there it went to a grey/black screen and then prompted me to choose a language and went straight back to the Apple logo with the loading bar underneath. I spoke with apple support and they said some MacBooks don’t say safe mode at the top. I’ve just been in a loop with the Apple logo and the progress bar underneath. I assumed it was updating because prior to my MacBook acting up it was updating and I haven’t been able to get onto my MacBook.

I have an intel MacBook and I haven’t been able to get to diagnostic, the only screens I have been actually able to get onto was internet recovery but the spinning globe tends to freeze or the timer stays on 24:00 and doesn’t change. I got to one screen where it had asked me to choose wifi or macintosh but when I clicked the macintosh it took me to a grey/black screen and didn’t change
