Bluetooth Midi stopped working on ipad

I have had zero issues using apps with my Kawai piano until last week. I can now no longer connect at all. Every midi app including Garageband, the piano shows up and when I try to connect it tells me it's connecting and then goes back to "not connected". I have no problem connecting to my macbook or my iphone, just the iPad. I restarted it, removed the apps and reinstalled, updated to 17.2, and nothing works. Keyboard shows up, but won't connect. Does anyone have any ideas?


Please don't ask me to turn bluetooth on or off or something like that. The apps are obviously seeing the piano as it shows the model number and if I turn off the piano, that goes away. It just refuses to connect. I have tried PiaBook player, SYnthesia, Kawai virtual technician, garage band. All do the EXACT same thing. Bluetooth for other devices such as headphones work fine.

Can't seem to edit my post. But, now on 17.3, it connects now, but doesn't actually work. Tried my daughter's ipad 17.2, does not connect. My son's connects and works, 17.1. So, if you want a working bluetooth midi connection, don't update your ipad past 17.1. This is SUCH a bummer and no one else seems to notice this issue. Bye bye Synathesia app. I so loved you.
