Siri’s voice reverting to American accent

Update on my scenario:

I have an Apple Watch. Unrelated to the problem, I had to send it in for a battery replacement. To do this, I had to unpair the Watch. I got the Watch back and have re-paired it with my phone. Since then, my selected Irish Siri voice has remained constant (3 weeks now).

As the Siri voice talks to us via both the phone and the Watch, perhaps the problem was an internal setting in the Watch that was getting the voice out-of-sync. (I initially changed to the Irish voice after I got my Watch and already had it paired to my phone.)

If you're having this problem, and you've got an Apple Watch paired with your phone, try un-pairing then re-pairing. Then let us know if this has fixed the problem for you.

Same problem here since the 17.2.1 update. I use British Voice 4. It will drop the British and revert to American, giving me American Voice 4. Often it happens after I disconnect from CarPlay, but not always. And other times it will switch for no consistent use case that I’ve figured out yet. But at least the CarPlay scenario appears to be semi-consistent and should be the first place the developers should start digging into to get this annoying problem fixed.

Yes. This has happened to me as well. I prefer the British 1 voice and my phone reverts back to American 4 voice. I have send feedback to Apple since early December 2023. I use CarPlay and notice the voice change when a text gets dictated back to me with the American accent.

Having the same issue but my “default” Siri voice is “American Voice 1”. At random times and in random apps, the voices changes to the original 2010 Siri default voice. Most recently using the “Speak Text” or “Speak Screen” options. When I check the settings, ALL my Siri voices are sent to “American Voice 1”.

Running iOS 17.4.1 currently. Has been more frequent after the last 2 (✌🏼) iOS updates.

I’m having this EXACT issue with the same voices. It start with the update just previous. It’s so random and intermittent though sometimes it goes a day without switching. Others I have to change it back to Irish 3 or 4 times a day. Would love more insight on what causes Siri changes in the first place.

Same here- have had Irish male Siri on iPhone 12 for years, then updated iOS (17.2.1) last week and am now having the American male Siri randomly speaking throughout the day. I keep having to go into settings to switch it back to Irish.

This is so frustrating. Siri keeps reverting to American voice 3, I reset it to Irish voice 1, and then it reverts to American voice 3. Over and over again.

Please. Make it stop. I didn’t invite American Siri into my life. How do I make him go away?!?

Yup. I posted as well and my comment was removed. Not sure exactly what Apple finds objectionable, but I do NOT want to listen to an American voice. It's been happening to me for months now.

I don't know what's happening with Apple for the last year or so, but it's a long long way from the company it used to be. Nothing but glitches and stonewalling now.

I too have the exact same issue. Why are there no replies from Apple and no solutions it’s very frustrating to have American Siri in my life first thing in the morning when it’s actually said to British voice

Me too! I'm sorry but this is absolutely the worst voice of all the options. I absolutely cringe every time I hear him read a text to me. And he won't go away!

Please leave lmy Irish guy alone! I like him.

As an American, the believe the Siri voices are TERRIBLE—I’ve always used my Irishman.

Now, to get this crass, dumb-sounding, rude young “dude” taking over each week, I am disgusted.

Quit dumbing down our phones, Apple—our culture is doing enough of that on its own!

Me too! I’m a Canadian who likes to use the British lady voice (either is fine). Every time I shut my ipad down for the night, I wake up to the American accent. Wonder why Apple have not fixed this issue yet???? 🤔

Same with me. I set the voice to British and next thing you know it flips back to American. It does this on CarPlay and my iPhone.

Yes, along with a bunch of other bugs the siri voice keeps reverting to American accent when I turn my phone on. Has anyone figured out how to stop this?

I am having the same issue. Just started a couple of weeks ago. I use the British accent, but it keeps going back to American. I can't seem to fix this. Does anybody know how?
