Mac always says use password to enable Touch ID to unlock my laptop.

I recently bought a brand new MacBook Air 13.6" M2 chip 2022, and after almost a week my MacBook always says "Use password to enable Touch ID" for those past days. Is there a specific way to fix it?

Have you ever been able to use fingerprint recognition with this laptop since you configured it?


Have you tried rebooting the laptop? This is required after you setup TouchID. Plus macOS will require a password when you reboot the Mac and once every few days or a week if you just sleep & wake the computer.
