Question

Macbookpro restarts everytime I operate FCPX

FCPX was running fine. Next day I opened a project and started to import file. Suddenly Mac gets restarted.

Now whenever I open fcpx, same thing happens. Mac is working fine with rest of the apps.

I searched the net and did few things like delete preferences, removed devices, created new user and then tried to run it, uninstalled fcpx and reinstalled. Nothing worked. Seems like only thing which I did not do is reinstall OS. Any idea what could be the issue other than reinstalling OS and will reinstalling the OS solve the problem?

It is really frustrating since I primarily use mac for video editing.

Close FCPro.

Hold the Option key as you re-launch FCPro.

This allows FCPro to open without remembering the last Project.

Create NEW test Library.

I suspect the last Project has a gremlin inside making FCPro "chuck a wobbly."

You have a drive that is completely full. This can cause serious problems - especially if it is being used with FCP.

If it is not, try ejecting that drive and seeing if the crashes persist or not.

Hi Friend

Just wanted to give an update. I nearly tried all solutions as proposed by the community members including re-installing fcpx first and then reinstalling the OS but nothing worked and same issue persisted. In my country there is no authorised apple store so I was trying to find a reputed technician for diagnosis of any hardware issue. However, I believe there was OS update few days ago. Recently I just tried again and now fcpx is working fine. So far no issues noted. So probably this was not a common issue but already in the knowledge of Apple. Hopefully I will not face this issue again.

CleanMyMac may have damaged the system of you’ve used it.

There are indications that any processor intensive calls are panicking the system. I’d suggest taking the computer to an Apple Store or service technician to do a full check for a hardware issue.

Want to check what's going on inside your MacBookPro before reinstalling the OS? Please paste the EtreCheck report in the additional text and post. I think it will be easier to come up with countermeasures if you understand the current state of PC.

Removed avast using find my files. External hard Disk used is not full. There is disk partition and not using the full disk for any operation through Mac. Issue persist even after disconnecting the external hard disk.

Earlier I created new library and new project but same thing happened. I tried what you told and at the moment new test project is running fine so thanks. I want to finish my video so I have not re-opened any previous library or project which I would do after completion of this video. So suppose if the issue does not arrive in new project but what does this actually mean? Can I access my previous projects and libraries or will they all make fcpx crash?

First time I used cleanmymac upon recommendation of someone was after getting this issue so don't think it damaged anything. Unfortunately in my country there is no Apple Store. I will probably have to find the right technician since there are no authorised technicians as well.

The diagnosis results in the report are in very poor condition. Please refer to the link to find out if there is a workaround you can do yourself.
